The benefits of water hydraulic axial piston technology in desalination applications are numerous including:

Simplest application – The OceanX combines the HP pump and energy recovery device into one unit that only requires one VFD,  product flow meter and high pressure gauge to maintain complete system control (flow diagram and power model).

Lowest energy consumption  - The OceanX combines a high efficiency positive displacement pump and pressure exchanger to achieve the lowest possible energy consumption. i.e. no booster pump.

Ultra low maintenance operation -  OPTTM’s products incorporate hydrodynamic bearings and exclusively use water as the lubricating fluid.   There are no oil or other lubricants to be changed or replaced.  Furthermore, the rotating port valve, one moving part, isolates the low and high pressure displacement cycles compared to the maintenance intensive seals, packing, and check valves of standard plunger pumps.

Smooth flow operation -  The axial piston rotary design incorporates a higher number of pistons that operate at higher rpm compared to traditional plunger pumps.  For example a 7 piston design is used in our smallest pumps and in larger pumps 9 pistons are used at up to 3500 rpm.  The result is a virtually smooth flow even at high flow rates.

Corrosion resistant - Duplex stainless steel, ceramic and polymer materials are used for all wetted parts making our products corrosion resistant to seawater and brine environments.

No mixing or over-flush – A physical barrier/piston separates the brine from the seawater.

Compact design - Our axial piston products use 20-30% of the space and weight of other pump and energy recovery solutions.
